The Group was started a while ago by a Mr. Rolf Carter. When he moved to Barley he was concerned to find that the Barley men had the Pub in which to socialise, but apart from the W.I. in Royston, the Barley women had nowhere to meet, so he founded the Over Sixties. Over the years it has evolved into the Barley Community Group and is open to all.
Our programme of events is very varied and this year, as well as the Town House based speakers, games afternoons, quizzes and Bring and Buy sale, we have had lunch outings, garden and garden centre visits, tea parties and coach trips. The years activities end with a Christmas lunch at a local hostelry.
We meet every other Thursday (except in August) at 2.30pm in the Town House, and welcome new members and visitors. Membership costs just £10 a year and £2 for visitors. Please note: All meetings are on hold until further notice due to the coronavirus.
